Recent Form

Jurgen Klopp was brave in his selection away at Man City with Mo Salah, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Diogo Jota all starting, but his team ran out of steam in the second half and they will have been the happier side with the point.

They should get another stern examination hosting Leicester, who arrive at this fixture having won six on the bounce in all competitions.

Klopp was able to call upon a centre-back partnership of Joel Matip and Joe Gomez last time out, but the latter has added to their injury nightmare in that position, joining Virgil van Dijk and Fabinho on the sidelines.

The latter is nearing a return to fitness but would be a surprise inclusion in the matchday squad, with Klopp unlikely to risk the Brazilian too soon given the long-term absences of van Dijk and Gomez.

Rhys Williams has played in all three of Liverpool’s Champions League games and impressed, but returned to Merseyside early from the Under 21 setup with a hip injury, so Nat Williams looks set to feature alongside Matip.

Liverpool’s selection crisis doesn’t end there however. Mo Salah must self-isolate after testing positive away with Egypt, so the front three will pick itself, but in midfield Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Tiago are both ruled out, while Jordan Henderson is a doubt having withdrawn from international duty.

Moreover, Trent Alexander-Arnold is also injured and there are slight concerns over Andy Robertson, so Liverpool could potentially be without their entire first-choice backline.

In a further complication for the Reds, Allisson and Firmino only get back into the UK on Thursday and could suffer from jet lag, so this could be a rare time to take them on.

+0.75 Asian Handicap

Liverpool are unbeaten at Anfield in 63 league games now, winning 29 of the last 30, but they’ve only triumphed by more than a single goal in one of six matches there in all competitions this season.

Leicester aren’t without any concerns of their own and are also reduced at the back. Caglar Soyuncu, Ricardo Pereira, Wilfried Ndidi and Daniel Amartey are all ruled out, 19-year-old revelation Wesley Fofana is a doubt after picking up a knock with the French U21 side, while this weekend will likely come too soon for Timothy Castagne.

Over 2.5 Goals

With both defences on the ropes, it would be a surprise if this game failed to ignite. Both teams have scored in seven of eight league clashes over the past four seasons, as seven also saw at least three goals and half contained four or more.

Both teams have also scored in each of Liverpool’s last six league games at Anfield, as even low-scorers Burnley and Sheffield Utd got in on the act. Meanwhile, Leicester have scored at least once in eight of their last nine on their travels, as five of the last six have seen at least three goals.

Jamie Vardy To Score Anytime

In fact, the Foxes have scored 13 times in four away games this season, with over half of those bagged by Jamie Vardy.

In all competitions he’s scored nine times in eight matches so far this season, including eight from five road trips as he netted in each, most memorably producing a hat-trick at the Etihad.

He has a great record against ‘Big Six’ teams, scoring 36 times in 58 appearances in the league since September 2015, while away from home, he’s bagged 15 from 20 such games since August 2017.
