Recent Form

Southampton headed into the international break with five wins from six unbeaten games, only failing to win at Stamford Bridge, pushing them up into the top four in the process.

They’ve bagged at least two goals in each of their past five appearances, and of the 13 they scored across these, star striker Danny Ings only grabbed three as they haven’t just relied upon him for output.

He missed the 2-0 win hosting Newcastle last time out, but they’ll have to make do without him for another month yet and their attack will have to work hard to fashion chances at Molineux.

Wolves have struggled to properly get going this term and their only victories have come over Sheffield Utd, Fulham, Leeds and Palace, while they picked up a point hosting Newcastle.

They’ve also lost out to Man City, West Ham and most recently Leicester, as well as Stoke in League Cup action.

However, prior to the narrow defeat away to the Foxes, their form had been improving as they had won three of four unbeaten games, so even if these didn’t come over the greatest of opponents, we’d expect them to be as competitive as ever.

Both Teams To Score (No)

Although the Saints have found their scoring boots, only two of those last six appearances actually saw more than two goals in total, and we wouldn’t expect Wolves to give too much away.

A massive 19 of their last 22 matches in all competitions have seen fewer than three goals dating back to early March, including each of the last five as these most recent outings saw a combined seven goals.

Although under 2.5 goals is a little on the short side, there may be better value obtained backing at least one team to misfire. 18 of those past 22 matches for Wolves saw one team or the other fail to score, and the absence of last season’s golden boot runner-up should help keep the scoring down.

Wolves To Win And Under 2.5 Goals

This game being moved to Monday has certainly helped Wolves. Although it allows Ryan Bertrand and James Ward-Prowse time to recover for the Saints, it should mean Nuno Espirito Santo can call upon key men Conor Coady and Leander Dendoncker.

Wolves also possess home advantage and aside from defeats here to Arsenal and Man City, they’ve won five of six unbeaten league matches at Molineux since Project Restart in June.

Each of those victories saw them register clean sheets and in fact, home or away each of their past nine victories have seen them shut their opponents out, with four finishing 1-0 and another four ending 2-0. With that in mind, a low-scoring home win holds some appeal.

Both Teams To Score (No) At 4/5

Wolves To Win And Under 2.5 Goals At 16/5
